It’s not easy being a youngster. The world is not very youth-friendly. No, it’s rather a youth-destructing world. Add to it the adults who don’t understand this, and who sit with their hands in their hair over the “youth of today,” and the picture becomes rather grim …
The youth of today has a lot of energy locked in them. They’re gifted and talented, and I’m convinced that they can truly make this world a better place. But sometimes one feels like shouting out in despair over the decadence of alcohol abuse, drugs, and premarital sex: How will the youth of today manage to ever stay on the right track? What must they do and to whom must they listen to experience abundance and victory in their lives?
Then I get excited! Because I know deep within my heart that God is a Friend of young people. I know the Word says, “Your sons and daughters will prophesy.” I know that He stands alongside them to motivate and inspire them to live with joy and energy. He wants them to be energetic, but to look, act and be different from the world. He grants them so much abundance and joy, but warns as well: stay away from sin.
The Word of God is the inspiration and guideline for each young person. It warns against certain things. It motivates you to do certain things. It leads you to peace and quietness in a stormy world. The most important thing is that it tells you the most beautiful love story of all time. It tells of a loving Father who gave His beloved Son so that you, if your life is committed to Him, can truly experience abundance and victory. It’s the story of Someone who gave His life for you. Yes, God’s Word is the ultimate love letter to His children.
Spend time in the Word. Use it timely and untimely. The
