JANUARY 1 God
THEY CALL HIM ELOHIM
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
The very first name used to refer to God in the Bible is Elohim. This
name refers to a God who is three, but also one. This is something that
is difficult for us to grasp. Actually, the word just wants to tell us that
God is the only true God.
Elohim also tells us that God is in control, that he is powerful, that
he is mighty. Yes, as a matter of fact, God is almighty. He is the only
true God among all the gods. He is the greatest of them all. There is
none like him.
How wonderful it is that you and I can have a personal relationship
with this great God. After all, Jesus helped us to make peace with this
God. That is why we needn’t be afraid of his all-powerfulness.
We are not afraid that he might destroy us. We are not afraid that he
might kill us. We are not afraid that he will be angry with us, because
Jesus brought us back to him.
